DRAMAWHORING

Produced by the Academy Studio, Dramawhoring is the creative result of a collaboration between Manca Lipoglavšek and Helena Šukljan, students of the 3rd year of Dramaturgy and Performing Arts, Claudi Sovrè, a student of costume design, and Maruša Mali, a student of architecture. They were brought together in the process of third-semester study production, during which they were all asking themselves the same question: "What are we doing here?" And from their need to reflect on this process and look at it retrospectively, the idea for Dramawhoring was born in some spacelessness between the walls on Nazorjeva ulica. But soon, the idea spilt beyond its original intention; the walls opened and the perspective broadened. The phenomenon of dramaturgy, or the study of dramaturgy, is far more than collaborating in a production. And the phenomenon of a dramaturgy student is almost necessarily constantly questioning one’s position, value, duties and rights, the future and "what can you even do as a dramaturg". The process, and consequently the production, is thus a fragmented overview of doubts, questions, criticism and complaints that emerged in the three years of studying dramaturgy and performing arts and all those moments when …

The music starts and becomes increasingly louder.

 

– All the essays, reviews, term papers, articles …

– All the deadlines that are approaching with lightning speed!

–All the meetings!

– All the sleepless nights.

– All those terribly poorly written drama scenes.

– All the rehearsals!

– All the text analyses!

– All the lectures!

– All the mentors.

– All the dramaturgs.

– All the performances that have ever been played. 

–All the films that have ever been shot.

– All the performance pieces ever realised!

– All the puppets that were ever made!

– All the radio plays ever heard!

– All the texts that are forever forgotten. 

– All the unanswered emails.

– All the missed opportunities.

– All the missed parties!

– When I’d forget about everything …

– When you forget everything!!
